Diehl Aerospace specifically sought professional SAP GTS consulting to efficiently implement SAP Global Trade Services. The project focused on complex requirements – including national customs processes via ATLAS, compliance with EU and US trade control regulations, and a consistent compliance strategy. Challenge:
For many years, Diehl Aerospace used the SD/FT module with several enhancements within the SAP R/3 ECC system, as well as an external SAP add-on for customs processing. As part of the planned migration to SAP S/4HANA, key functionalities of the existing SD/FT module were discontinued. Additionally, migrating the customs add-on in use would have been necessary. Within the SAP S/4HANA strategy, the central requirement was a holistic solution approach focused on standardization, minimal custom developments, and the avoidance of non-SAP add-ons. The goal was a fully integrated SAP system landscape – from a single source, future-proof, low-maintenance, and efficient.

Result:
After 18 months of intensive project work, the new SAP GTS e4H system was successfully put into production in May 2025. The implementation was completed on schedule, and all project requirements were successfully met, including:

• Individually configured compliance checks: Sanction list screening (SPL), embargo and legal export controls (Foreign Trade and Payments Ordinance, EU Dual Use, US re-export), as well as integrated license management

• Automated data proposals for customs declarations, including authorization management and document identification
