From November 7 to 8, 2024, the SAP Global Trade & Tax Event took place in Amsterdam, marking a significant gathering for professionals in the fields of global trade and taxation. The event provided deep insights into current developments and future trends, with a particular focus on the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into trade processes. SAP and its partners delivered inspiring presentations, offering a comprehensive overview of the future roadmap for SAP Global Trade Services (GTS). As already two years ago, André Bremer and Michael Crome have again represented SI PRO at this year’s European edition of 3E Engage, which took place in Lisbon from April 9th to 11th.

The 3E Engage is a networking event organized by our partner 3E annually alternating between Europe and America/Asia, where current topics and trends in the areas of product safety, sustainability and AI are presented.

The main topics this year were the European Green Deal, the Digital Product Pass and PFAS, which have fallen into disrepute as “forever chemicals” because of their persistence, as well as reports from companies affected by these topics.

A highlight from SI PRO's perspective was a presentation we have organized together with our customer Borealis on the topic of PCN notifications using 3E Notify. Robert Lucas, an employee in the Product Stewardship department at Borealis, presented our joint project and the benefits for Borealis.

Two excellently organized evening events that provided plenty of opportunities to network with the other event participants in an informal and relaxed atmosphere were a welcome change from the presentations and workshops that took place during the day.

Viessmann, a customer of SI PRO, presented jointly with SI PRO at the SAP for EHS and Product Compliance Conference 2024 in Amsterdam, sharing their experiences in implementing SAP solutions for product compliance and regulatory adherence. The collaboration underscores the importance of partnership in achieving successful safety and compliance measures. Through the integration of SAP technologies, companies like Viessmann can not only ensure compliance with regulatory requirements but also optimize their processes and achieve sustainability goals.

As in previous years SI PRO took part in the "Product Safety in Chemical Industry" organized by the Chem-Academy, which took place in Bonn from January 29th to January 30th (https://www.chem-academy.com /Events/chemistry/product safety). There were again many informative contributions from the chemical industry and from downstream users as well as from politics and the involved authorities. At a casual evening event, the topics could be further deepened and one or the other conversation was also completely apart from product safety and politics.

Key topics this year were the EU chemical strategy, revisions of REACH and CLP, requirements from enforcing authorities, “Safe & Sustainable by Design” and last but not least, of course, the PFAS restrictions. SI PRO was a competent contact for his customers and all other participants throughout the entire event with a small information stand.

In 2023, SI PRO continues to contribute a portion of its corporate success to projects in the fields of environmental and species protection, sustainable development, or social projects.

In collaboration with the Unternehmen Wald Foundation, SI PRO has planted over 450 trees of locally suitable species such as oaks, lindens, and birches in the Harz region.

The dry summers and storms of recent years have caused enormous damage to spruce forests. Nationwide, over 400,000 hectares of spruce areas have been completely destroyed by drought, bark beetles, and storms. What remains are vast barren areas that no longer provide habitat for forest-dwelling species and where nutrients are washed away. The Harz region has been particularly hard hit, with several thousand hectares of spruce forest destroyed by bark beetles.
